Becoming a hair stylist...?

I'm a 16 year old, British male and wanna become a hairstylist. It seems there are 2 options. NVQ at a college, or find an apprenticeship. Which do you think is the best route and what are the ups and downs of both routes?

PS: I'm not a ******.Becoming a hair stylist...?
Actually, I think a little of both. Go to college and either get a job in a reputable salon with a training program or apprenticeship or hire on as an assistant. In the U.S. you can't do that until you've had a certain number of hours in school so you'll have to find out what the regulations are for where you live. I think doing both is a much more complete education than just one or the other. Good luck. I've been a hairdresser, color specialist and educator for 24 years and it can be a fulfilling and prosperous career depending on the early choices you make. Let me know what you decide to do.Becoming a hair stylist...?
college
Well im in the USA and to become a hair stylist you must complet 1500 hours of beauty school... then you must take a state bored test...
You would be better off doing an apprentiship, this way you get a feel for the exact job. Most salons will send you on courses once you have been there a while.

I know a college in Fife, in Scotland have a pretty good hair course if you feel you would rather have a college qualification.

Best of luck and anyway, there are many male hairstylists that are not gay!
